Health Crisis Risk and Preparedness in Supply Chains During COVID-19

July 20, 2020 EcoVadis ‏‏‎

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed vulnerabilities in global supply chains that can amplify and prolong disruptions - and even ‘destruction’ - of supply and labor sources, and challenges procurement to monitor how well prepared their suppliers are to respond to such a crisis.

This report (published as an extension to this year’s EcoVadis Index) provides a focused look at ‘social and labor’ management system indicators that underpin resilience of companies across the supply chain. Studying indicators from thousands of suppliers in every purchasing category and country from January 2019 through April of 2020, it shows how performance on factors such as labor rights, working conditions, and employee support programs are vital for procurement teams to identify weak points. It underscores the importance of leveraging engagement tools to monitor and drive sustainability improvements that will build resilience against future crises.
