SPLC Webinar - Connecting the Dots: Sustainable Procurement, GRI Reporting and the EU CSRD

June 3, 2024

The new wave of regulations sweeping the globe are shifting from voluntary to mandatory reporting of sustainability impacts - including in the value chain. Leading the pack is the EU’s CSRD with the broadest criteria, depth, and data quality required. There are also local laws addressing specific subsets of topics - such as Canada’s S-211 modern slavery act, or California’s SB-253 climate disclosure - that also demand supply chain disclosure.

Overall, these groundbreaking regulations will require sustainability leaders to collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to gather and report the right information. Fortunately, standards like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) have been a core pillar in CSRD's development, and can be leveraged for guidance to tackle this new challenge.

This webinar provided an overview of CSRD requirements (particularly for supply chain), its alignment to GRI, and the use of such standards to help prepare organizations for reporting. We shared one organization’s journey in understanding its requirements and engaging procurement as an essential contributor and stakeholder towards implementation.
