EcoVadis Formalizes its Commitment as a Purpose-Led Company

Dear EcoVadis customers, stakeholders and friends,

We co-founded EcoVadis with a vision of a global marketplace where sustainability intelligence influences every business decision, improving lives and the planet we depend on. Fifteen years after the company was founded, we are proud to have now formalized our company purpose in our company bylaws. According to the requirements set out by the French law, Loi PACTE, we have become a purpose-driven company, “Entreprise à Mission” in French. 

More than 400 employees, our leadership team, a panel of partners & customers as well as trusted advisors including our Scientific Advisory Board, came together in an exceptional process of collective intelligence to define our purpose statement capturing why our company exists, which is to: “Guide all companies toward a sustainable world”. 

According to the legal requirements of this status, we also established four core purpose objectives: 

• Deliver independent, trusted, and actionable sustainability ratings and insights through methodology excellence. 

• Enable the greatest number of companies to continuously improve their business practices and contribute to creating a regenerative and equitable economy. 

• Cultivate an inclusive learning environment for our people, providing meaningful work and empowering future generations of sustainability practitioners. 

• Foster collective action within our ecosystem to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.

Acknowledging our rapid growth rate, becoming a purpose-driven company shall act as a North Star to keep the company focused and grounded in our development journey, ensuring that our growth is accompanied by commensurate positive impact on our planet and society. 

To support us on this journey, under the leadership of our Chief Impact Officer Valérie Touchon, and in line with the legal requirement of the Loi PACTE, we will set up a Purpose Committee. This group will include employee representatives and external stakeholders responsible for overseeing the company’s progress toward our objectives and publishing an annual progress report. 

Our customers are the heroes of this story. We feel truly privileged that you have joined us on this journey and look forward to mobilizing our business networks and community to accelerate our journey toward a sustainable world.
