Safran is delighted to announce to be one of the leading aerospace companies to have joined the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) Industry Voluntary Supplier ESG Assessment Initiative, powered by EcoVadis.

IAEG launched in February of 2023 an aerospace & defense sector initiative powered by EcoVadis, which now unites 12 aerospace & defense industry leaders1 including among others Airbus, Boeing, Leonardo, ATR and Safran. Through this voluntary program, IAEG and EcoVadis aim to accelerate sustainability performance and improvement within the aerospace industry and the extended supply chain. By promoting responsible practices and greater transparency, they seek to drive positive change and create a more sustainable and resilient supply chain for the future.

Marjolaine Grange, EVP Production, Purchasing and Performance and ExCom member at Safran, comments: "EcoVadis provides us with a robust and credible tool to evaluate our suppliers' performance on ESG criteria and better identify and manage the associated risks. This tool will positively contribute to achieving our primary objective: creating a more sustainable and robust supply chain."

Nathalie Stubler, Chief Sustainability Officer and ExCom member at Safran, says: “The adoption of the EcoVadis solution represents a significant advancement for Safran in its CSR strategy which includes embodying a responsible industry with three commitments: uphold the highest ethical standards, strengthen responsible supply chain practices and respect the environment. This is done consistently with the strategy advocated by the IAEG for the aerospace and defense sector."

The IAEG Supplier ESG Assessment initiative is a sector initiative focused on sustainable procurement and co-coordinated by EcoVadis, the leading provider of business sustainability ratings. IAEG relies on EcoVadis to serve as a common basis for measuring and evaluating supplier Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance and risks. By working with EcoVadis, they will be able to benchmark their suppliers' sustainability performance against a standard industry framework that will enable informed business decisions, duty of care compliance obligations, sustainability reporting, and positive change in environmental and social topics. By embracing a common approach, suppliers will benefit from only completing one sector-level assessment rather than multiple ones.

Annette Quincy, Director of Sector Initiatives at EcoVadis, adds: “We are pleased to welcome Safran on this journey. Through the IAEG Supplier ESG Assessment Initiative, members entrust EcoVadis as their common sustainability rating methodology and improvement platform so they can collaborate on, track, and promote a responsible supply base in their journey toward a more sustainable future.”
