Technology plays a pivotal role in procurement. It enables industries to automate a process as convoluted as procurement. Technology also contributes to a greener supply chain. While one might wonder how technology helps make the supply chain process greener, this correlation is quite easy to understand.

The objective here is to make procurement efficient and sustainable. Hence, the pivotal factor is that we focus on a strategy that ensures procurement has a positive impact on society and the environment. Policies must be developed considering the objective of using technology in procurement in an eco-friendly manner. What is encouraging to witness is the increased usage of sustainable procurement processes. Going by data points, according to the 2024 Gartner Sustainable Procurement Pulse Survey, the usage of sustainable procurement tools has increased from 54 per cent to a whopping 70 per cent among organisations. This motivates us to make procurement sustainable and efficient.
