The European Commission is inviting feedback after publishing a roadmap on its plans to boost the textiles industry post-COVID and to transform textile waste collection, sorting and recycling across member states.
The European Green Deal, the Circular Economy Action Plan and the European industrial strategy have all identified the textiles industry as a priority for accelerating a carbon-neutral, circular economy.
But the new roadmap notes that a 'coordinated and harmonised' response is required as the sector is highly globalised, with piecemeal national and local level actions that are 'insufficient to drive change'.
