The Pandemic Slowed Sustainability Efforts: Here’s How Organizations Can Get Them Back On Track

The global pandemic has stalled—but not stopped—companies’ environmental sustainability efforts, leaving room for renewed action in 2021, according to Deloitte Global’s 2021 Climate Check report.

According to the survey, the majority of executives (65%) said their organizations need to cut back on environmental sustainability initiatives in some way due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, on the positive side, no surveyed organizations said they were planning to stop their efforts completely with no plans to resume. “This indicates that environmental sustainability will remain on the agenda despite setbacks from the pandemic,” says Michele Parmelee, Deloitte Global deputy CEO and chief people and purpose officer.
