Dutch Child Labor: Regulatory Snapshot

July 25, 2023

Not yet in force, the new Dutch regulation requires companies to investigate whether their goods or services have been produced utilizing child labor. If, following an investigation, there is a reasonable suspicion that goods or services came about with the use of child labor, a company must set out a plan of action to address the issues. The Act also imposes a reporting obligation – companies will need to file a statement that they have exercised an appropriate level of supply chain due diligence to prevent child labor.

EcoVadis Sustainability Intelligence Suite, backed by experience with regulatory due diligence requirements, such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD), the French Devoir de Vigilance or the UK Modern Slavery Act, provides a holistic approach to addressing due diligence requirements in the supply chain. The snapshot offers a simple guide to how it can help address specific demands outlined in the Dutch Child Labor Due Diligence Law.
