January 30, 2018 FR EcoVadis FR

Through the Ecovadis platform we can support customers even better and ensure we are always easy to do business with,” says Ralph Cox, Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales, Toyota Material Handling Europe.

EcoVadis, the leading platform for environmental, social and ethical performance ratings for global supply chains, provides 175 companies with easy-to-use sustainability ratings and evaluations of more than 40,000 of their value chain partners.

Toyota Material Handling Europe, part of the global leader in material handling equipment and solutions – Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) – underwent its first group-level EcoVadis evaluation in 2012. Over the last five years, it has expanded its EcoVadis assessments to 26 entities, each of which undergo an annual re-evaluation.

In 2017, its four European factories, 21 national sales companies and the group as a whole, were evaluated and awarded; eleven gold, thirteen silver and two bronze EcoVadis certifications. As such, Toyota Material Handling is in the top 2 performing percentile within the manufacturing industry globally.

Through the EcoVadis platform, Toyota Material Handling can make available performance reports on 150 purchasing categories covering ‘environment, labour, fair business practices, and sustainable procurement’ for each of its subsidiaries. This helps customers, such as the French glass manufacturer Saint Gobain, make informed purchasing decisions to meet their business needs in a sustainable and responsible way.

Another customer using the EcoVadis platform to assess its suppliers is Nestlé; the world’s leading nutrition, health and wellness company. Toyota Material Handling Europe has been providing forklifts and warehouse equipment, systems and services to Nestlé internationally since the 1970’s, and in Europe since 1998.

“With eleven gold, thirteen silver and two bronze evaluations, EcoVadis congratulates Toyota Material Handling Europe for covering 95% of its employees with an EcoVadis evaluation of the local subsidiary where they are employed,” says David McClintock, Marketing Director, EcoVadis.
