EcoVadis Announces Winners of First-Ever Sustainability & Sustainable Procurement Leadership Awards

PARIS/NEW YORK – May 26, 2017:  EcoVadis, the leading platform for environmental, social and ethical performance ratings for global supply chains, announces 15 winners of the Sustainability Leadership Awards. The awards recognize outstanding sustainability initiatives and performance of companies using the EcoVadis Sustainable Procurement Solution, and supplier sustainability Scorecards and ratings.


Sustainable Procurement Leadership Awards (for Buyer organizations)

EcoVadis recognized three buying organizations:

Best Internal Stakeholder Engagement

Winner: SNCF

Shortlisted nominees:  GlaxoSmithKline, Clariant, and SNCF

This awards the best-in-class examples of driving internal engagement to roll out global sustainable procurement programs. Criteria and evidence examined include coverage and depth of training, number of buyers or category managers onboarded to the sustainability management system, use of forums, internal websites and e-learning, executive management engagement.

Best Supplier CSR Performance Improvement

Winner: Michelin

This category recognizes companies demonstrating the highest percentage of suppliers improving in CSR performance and highest average score, based on EcoVadis score points.

Best Supplier Engagement  

Winner: Coca-Cola European Partners

Shortlisted nominees: Johnson & Johnson – SNCF – Coca-Cola European Partners  

This award recognizes companies demonstrating excellence in engaging suppliers in their sustainable procurement programs. Examples of candidate inputs examined: ratio of suppliers scored on EcoVadis, number of new suppliers entering the rating program, training, hosting of ‘supplier day’ events or webinars, awards and recognition programs that reward suppliers for CSR performance.

Best Regional performance in three zones:

  • Europe: a draw with two first place winners: GECINA SA Group (France), and STEELCASE SA (France)

This awards the highest EcoVadis score among companies who completed an EcoVadis assessment in 2016, in each of 9 macro-categories (there were several draws):
