EcoVadis reinforces global leadership in sustainable supply chains by urging bold nature policies and action
PARIS & NEW YORK – May 22, 2025 – In recognition of the International Day for Biological Diversity, EcoVadis, the global standard for resilient, sustainable supply chains, today announced it has joined the Nature Positive Forum and signed the Business for Nature’s Call to Action — uniting with over 1,500 companies calling on governments to adopt strong policies to reverse nature loss by 2030.
These actions come as countries move to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework agreed at COP15, with momentum building after the COP16 negotiations in Colombia and financial investment secured in Italy. The call to action and forum membership underscore EcoVadis’ commitment to accelerating systemic change through data-driven insights and collaboration.
"Protecting nature isn’t just good for the planet—it’s essential for economic resilience and supply chain stability," said Pierre-François Thaler, co-founder and co-CEO of EcoVadis. "Our platform equips companies with the intelligence they need to act on nature loss now. By joining these global initiatives, we’re reinforcing our role in helping business be part of the solution."
With more than 1,300 procurement organizations and 44,000 buyers on its platform, representing over €2.38 trillion ($2.67 trillion) in global spend, EcoVadis provides detailed assessments of sustainability risks—including drivers of biodiversity loss—across industries like agriculture, construction, and mining.
EcoVadis’s data based on performance evaluations conducted in 2023 (included in this report) and compared to preliminary analysis for 2024 (to be released in the summer) reveals progress in corporate commitments:
-
51% of companies have climate policies (vs. 40% in 2023)
-
28% have water policies (vs. 24%)
-
17% have biodiversity policies (vs. 15%)
-
23% have set climate targets (vs. 17%)
-
7% have water targets (vs. 4%)
-
3% have biodiversity targets (vs. 2%)
While climate continues to dominate corporate sustainability agendas, EcoVadis sees a clear need to elevate biodiversity and water alongside climate to build resilient, future-ready supply chains.
As part of the Nature Positive Forum and Business for Nature coalition, EcoVadis will help shape business engagement in global policy, share best practices, and strengthen its methodology to support transformation in high-impact sectors.
