Launched in 2019 by the Mission French Tech, The Next40/120 Programme is a testament to the commitment of the French government to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship. This recognition not only validates our purpose-driven mission to become an “Entreprise à Mission”, but it also provides us with access to invaluable resources and networks that will help us expand our reach and accelerate our commitment to making a positive impact on society and the environment.

Launched in 2019 by the Mission French Tech, the French Tech Next40/120 is a government program that supports the most successful French start-ups with the aim of guiding them in their development into world-class technology leaders.
The selection criteria for the class of 2023 were particularly demanding:
The French Tech Next40 brings together the 40 most successful start-ups in the ecosystem to recognize their status as spearheads of the French economy. To join, organizations had to be one of the 26 French unicorns as yet unlisted on the stock exchange, or have raised at least €100 million between 2020 and 2022, within the number of places available.
The 80 other places in the programme are aimed at the other most competitive start-ups, which are selected based on two complementary criteria, fundraising (having raised at least €40 million between 2020 and 2022, a threshold that has doubled in relation to the Class of 2022) and hyper-growth (demonstrating a turnover of at least €10 million during the last closed fiscal year and showing an average growth of at least 25% during the last three closed fiscal years).
The first criterion is mainly aimed at DeepTech and/or industrial start-ups, which need significant funding to support their R&D and/or the construction of an industrial site. The second criterion highlights certain start-ups that may not necessarily require a significant need for fundraising, but are experiencing hyper-growth in their turnover, which is a sign of their customers' trust .
In addition to the economic performance criteria, and for the first time in the history of the French Tech Next40/120, applicants for the class of 2023 were asked to make commitments to:

Climate leadership: To complete a ‘Scope 1, 2 and 3’ carbon assessment by the end of 2023.

Parity in the workplace: To report the results of their gender equality index to the French Tech Mission, together with proposals for actions to improve it.

Inclusion: To engage in a collective effort that will be initiated and led by the French Tech Mission in the first semester of 2023, which will begin with a diagnosis on impact issues.
Support from Mission French Tech: The laureates of the programme will benefit from daily, personalised support throughout 2023. The aim of the programme is to provide individual and collective support on strategic issues such as international development, financing, recruitment, territorial establishment, intellectual property and regulatory issues. Start-ups will thus be able to rely on a dedicated start-up manager within the Mission French Tech, enhanced visibility, specific support on regulatory issues, and collective support in the form of experience-sharing events and expertise contributions.

About the Mission French Tech
The French Tech Mission is a team of civil servants responsible for helping the ecosystem of French start-ups form and flourish, in France and abroad. As part of the Directorate-General for Enterprise within the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, the Mission coordinates and oversees the French Tech ecosystem with its network of 16 Capitals and 99 Communities, in France and abroad. It also supports start-ups by making it easier for them to interact with the administration via a network of more than 60 French Tech contacts. The French Tech Mission supports the most mature start-ups through the French Tech Next40/120 programme, as well as start-ups operating in sectors identified as strategic as part of the France 2030 plan with its first sector-dedicated programmes: Green20, Agri20, Health20 and DeepNum20.
