Spain – October 9, 2019 — Volkswagen Group España Distribución and EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of sustainability ratings, have partnered to evaluate the sustainability performance of the car manufacturer’s strategic suppliers in Spain. With this alliance, Volkswagen takes a step forward in upholding its commitment to sustainability, mitigates critical risks and improves its brand reputation.
“This partnership will lay the foundation for how we evaluate and help our suppliers to comply with our high environmental standards, labor practices, and ethics,” said Miguel Más de Larragán, Purchasing & Vehicle Logistic Director at Volkswagen Group España Distribución.
The independent Ecovadis platform evaluates the quality of the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management system based on 21 criteria related to four themes: environment, labor practices and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
The 21 criteria are based on international CSR standards such as the Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, ISO 26000 and the principles of CERES.
“Volkswagen España Distribución is a great example of an organization that is leading the adoption of sustainability in the region, by increasing its focus on sustainable procurement practices,” said Pierre-Francois Thaler, Co-CEO of EcoVadis.
