EcoVadis Supports Non-profits in Their Fight Against Climate Change and Inequalities

EcoVadis Philanthropy Program aims to empower communities and future generations of sustainability practitioners in reaching their full potential as changemakers, by supporting organizations that address climate change and accelerate change in the field of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Our Philanthropy Program aims to:

  • Create meaningful partnerships with nonprofit organizations,
  • Offer opportunities for employees engage with their communities,
  • Be pioneers as a purpose-driven company to drive behavior change for people and the planet.

In line with these objectives, the 2022 program comprised three projects. Firstly, we invested €50,000 to partner with Ashoka, an international organization that identifies and supports the world's leading social entrepreneurs. The purpose of this partnership is to support a social entrepreneur financially and through knowledge sharing; but also, to fuel EcoVadis’ understanding of society’s deep-rooted social, cultural, and environmental challenges from their innovative solutions. The Valuable 500 was chosen, a global business collective innovating together for disability inclusion.

EcoVadis rates companies’ social and environmental performance in the form of scorecards. For our second project, for each scorecard published, one tree will be planted to create a carbon sink and preserve biodiversity. To make this project a reality, we supported One Tree Planted by donating €49,000 to plant trees in Brazil and Canada, countries that are experiencing heavy deforestation.

Our third project is the Local Donation Program where €100,000 were distributed to local NGOs chosen by employees. Indeed, the taskforce preselected nonprofits through a vetting process based on their size, location, and focus area (Sustainability education, Carbon, or Diversity, equity and inclusion); then, employees voted for the NGO they wanted EcoVadis to support.

In addition to these 3 projects, EcoVadis has a fund for exceptional events. In 2022, EcoVadis supported the Corinne Runs for Good initiative with a €5,000 donation, which provides scholarships to paralympic athletes. Nevertheless, the majority of the fund was dedicated to support Ukraine: €15,000 were donated to Polish Humanitarian Action and €5,000 to a school in Warsaw providing Polish classes to Ukrainian children and parents. Furthermore, employees joined forces and raised €1,895 within the company and donated it to Mamans de Paris pour l’Ukraine.

Drawing on the lessons from 2022, 2023 promises to be even more eventful. Indeed, we strive to rethink our model and to go beyond financial support, to make our initiatives more scalable and its impact more measurable, where EcoVadians can get involved and where we can put our skills at the service of nonprofits.
